POWERED BY BEEF

The "Powered By Beef: Performance Through Protein" program takes a real food first approach to sports nutrition. The focus of the high school and collegiate program is a balanced diet built on top of foundation of protein, specifically beef. The overall goal of this program is to educate athletes on how to pre-fuel and refuel while they train before, during and after their sporting season. The NDBC is committed to education of student athletes through the “Powered By Beef” program.

This program is made possible through Beef Checkoff Dollars funded by North Dakota Beef producers.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Meet Mattie

"My name is Mattie Dalton, and I’m a freshman outside hitter on the North Dakota volleyball team majoring in dietetics. I’m from a small town in Nebraska, where my family shares ownership of a cattle ranch. Growing up with the dream to play Division One volleyball, has taught me the value of hard work, balance, and proper nutrition. I’ve always been passionate about finding ways to get better both on and off the court, especially when it comes to fueling my body the right way. Incorporating high-protein beef into my meals has been essential for maintaining energy, building strength, and recovering after tough practices and matches."

Meet Weston

"My name is Weston Zacher and I’m a Sophomore Center on the Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team majoring in Exercise Science. I’m from a small town 80 miles southeast of Dickinson called Elgin where my family owns a farm/ranch. I have been playing basketball since I was 4 years old when my dad had to pick me up on his shoulders so I could shoot the ball. It has always been a dream of mine to play college basketball. College basketball has given me the opportunity to improve my game with the help of my Coaches, Teammates, and Trainers. I have also learned about the importance of nutrition and how beef has been essential for performing my best."

Meet Alexis

"My name is Alexis Schneider, and I’m a freshman women’s wrestler at Bismarck State College, majoring in Agribusiness. I grew up on my family’s farm and ranch near Napoleon, ND, where we run and raise beef cow-calf pairs. Always wanting to reach new heights as a wrestler, I have learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and proper nutrition. I am always looking to improve on and off the mat, and beef has set me on the right track. Including beef in my meals has given me the nutrients I need to perform at my greatest and recover after every workout and match."
