Celebrating Beef Month Across North Dakota

Each May, the North Dakota Beef Commission celebrates Beef Month by connecting consumers with beef through education, partnerships, and community events across the state.

Throughout the month, NDBC worked with schools, retailers, healthcare professionals, industry partners, and consumers to highlight beef’s role as a nutritious, versatile protein and share the story behind North Dakota’s beef industry.

Beef Month kicked off with Executive Director Nicole Wardner speaking at the North Dakota Association of Meat Processors Conference. The event provided an opportunity to connect with industry professionals, share consumer insights, and discuss the importance of beef in today’s marketplace.

Education was a key focus throughout the month. Schools across the state participated in the Beef Month Toolkit program, providing school food service teams with resources to incorporate beef into their menus and create opportunities for students to learn more about beef. NDBC also highlighted classrooms participating in the Beef Mini Grant Program, which supports hands-on learning in beef production, nutrition, and culinary skills.

Consumers had opportunities to engage with beef through retail promotions like Beef Bingo, encouraging shoppers to add beef to their meal planning and explore different cuts and recipes.

NDBC also continued sharing beef nutrition information with healthcare professionals through educational outreach at the North Dakota Academy of Physician Assistants Conference. Registered Dietitian Bridget Bullinger provided insight on beef’s nutritional benefits and shared resources to help healthcare professionals better understand beef’s role as part of a balanced diet.

Community events brought Beef Month celebrations directly to consumers. NDBC hosted “Grilling with the Governor” at the State Capitol, sharing a beef-focused meal with state employees and celebrating beef with leaders and staff. NDBC also partnered with the Fargo Marathon to connect with runners, spectators, and volunteers while sharing beef education and resources.

From classrooms and grocery stores to community events and professional organizations, Beef Month created opportunities to connect with consumers in meaningful ways and showcase the many ways beef fits into everyday life.

Through these partnerships and outreach efforts, the North Dakota Beef Commission continues to share the story of beef and inspire consumers to enjoy beef in everyday meals, gatherings, and celebrations.
